New York City is not easy. It is a lot of things, but easy is not one of them. Being called to this city does not make it any easier. Faith in that calling and the people you are called to walk with, however, does make it easier. My faith and conviction were both tested when I woke one day to find myself without a job, confused, recovering from an unexpected surgery, and quickly running out of money. I had a promise from God about being here, but this was far harder than anything I expected. I had been in New York City for 2 years and all of a sudden it felt like the bottom had fallen out. When I came here I had a good job, promising career, and calling to do something great. But there were giants in my promised land.

I soon realized that a good job wasn't good money at a job that made me miserable. Before I could leap from one job to another I was forced to take a leap a faith. Take on more responsibility in a job that could keep the rent paid and slowly kill me, or resign and step out on faith. I resigned and 3 days later I was told I would need major reconstructive knee surgery. Expected recovery time was about one year. My savings where almost gone, and now I had medical bills, and could not even walk from my bedroom to the kitchen for a glass of water. It would be so easy to just go back home and try something else. But I knew my promise was here and for this city. And God has always shown up when I needed him. And he did. Within 2 months I had a new job, in the same industry, making a difference and living out my purpose. 2 months after surgery I was walking. Slowly but I was walking. My life is forever changed. I am not running through Central Park yet, but my life is forever better. The constant through all of this, were the people of Morning Star New York who never stopped walking with me, who never stood encouraging me, and the people who never stopped praying for me. God has started wonderful work in me and the journey is just beginning.
